Ok, I've figured out that one ram chip is knackered, but thats not the problem, now I'm experiencing the monitor showing nothing but random coloured dots going DOWN the screen.

Is this likely to be the monitor fubbered or the GPU chip? (shares off the RAM, but again, not a ram problem)

Hope you can help, thanks in advance.

plug it into an external display, if it still does it then it's RAM

I tried the external monitor thing aaaages ago, but it wouldn't let me swap to monitor. Probs because bro never actually used it in the first place. Unless I'm doing something wrong? I did push fN and the F4 key (usually F4).

May need to do that either twice or 3 times. If nothing, reboot with it in. If still nothing, test monitor with another PC. If nothing, it's the monitor. Unless ur unlucky and both test machines are fubbered
