What would be the best way of me transfering music files from my pc to my lap top ?

if they're both vista or both xp, crossover cable should do the trick, stick the stuff in a shared folder, and copy it from the shared folder on the other machine.

if one is vista and one is xp...use google, i cant be arsed :lol:

Loaded up my external drive ,pluggewd in to lap top and as i try to up load on to it i get "The request could not be performed becauseof an I/O device error."

What does this mean ???

the drivers for your harddrive aint working right on your laptop, or its your usb drivers could be dodgey?

drivers mate...whats the brand?...
oh...and you might get problems if the usb lead is too long...thats if its a usb powered drive...

Yeah I get that with my Lacie if both usb leads arnt plugged in, (one is just for power)
