got this message today on my laptop.this is as far as it loads,
windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt
windows root>system 32\hal.dll
please re-install a copy of the above file,,

my laptop didnt come with any discs,i have searched the web and alot of people with the same problem but not many answers on how to fix this :cry:

what laptop is it? some access the install partition by holding down f5 or other key during booting to try and repair windows.

otherwise you have to try and copy the file from another pc which is actually a pain as you cant always copy the file because its in use by windows itself

its a DELL INSPIRON 6000,,real peed off got alot on the laptop i dont realy want to lose :cry:
