Had probs with XP, which moved me over to 7. Driver probs, BSOD, wont start, wont shut down etc etc Now 7 is the same. What are the chances it's RAM or mobo? likely..? HAve upgraded bios, same if not worse. Where is the best place to buy a nice bundle? Only prerequisits is two PCIe slots. Do alot of photoshop, so multicore is good. |

It most certainly sounds like hardware, I take it that you've updated all of the drivers? Try manually downloading the gfx, mobo & sound from the manufacturers. |

After checking the BSOD errors, I'm fairly sure it's RAM. Had a quick look at memtest etc, but am sorry to say it looks too complicated..runs in DOS? Work out how much RAM to test.. errr, ALL OF IT? .... Is there a windows based one?? Anyway, there's 4 256Mb sticks of crucial ballistix in there. 1, 2, 3 and 4. 2 and 4 out. Starts windows, never makes it to the desktop, black screen and a cursor. 1 and 3 out. Same. Just 1 in. Same Just 2 in. Same Just 3 in. Won't boot, something about header not equalling computed checksum. Just 4 in. Back to black and a cursor. Sooo, 3 is fecked, but nothing will now boot it. I'm about to frikking boot it myself. Payday friday, nice new mobo proc ram bundle from somewhere...It's been about 6 months of pain, and I'm trying to run a business from it. |

WIN 7 CLEAN INSTALL? ANYWAY.... HAVE U TRIED 1 STICK IN THE FIRST BLUE/PURPLE SLOT... AND TRY EACH STICK.... THEN TRY THE SECOND SLOT... ONBOARD SOUND?.... TRY TURNING IT OFF? OTHER THAN THAN..... SUGGESTIONS PEOPLE.... |

https://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spe ... ?MBB-6204G Just ordered this, cba anymore. It was two year old 'good stuff' when I got it off a mate, two years ago. Time to bite the bullet... Quad core Photoshop rendering madness!! The chip is literally a Phenom with the L3 cache (whatever that is) left off. And the board even has 2 pci-e slots which I need. GenP, do you envisage any probs? Assuming my HDDs are not screwed by now, will this just need connecting up? |

Sorry, meant 4 512 sticks Went in Bios, turned audio off.. (why this makes a difference I don't understand..) Selected safe mode.. Rebooting itself.. Chose 'startup repair'.. ..which is ticking along.. ..and has offered me a 'restore'.. ..which I gladly accepted.. 'Attempting repairs' (would faulty ram have cause corrupt file to be written to the disc?) Still attempting repairs.. Nipping up shop for a beer (me, not satans PC) brb |

'Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically, send info to Bill Gates?' Click exit to shut down your PC. will try each stick in each slot.. |

Well, just took two of the four sticks out and it started. Still reckon windows is damaged though. Will start backing stuff up for the mobo change. Beef, GenPs away for a bit. I may pester you.... |
