 Post subject: need a replacement laptop hdd

duff HDD... wont install / format

it is from an amilo pro v2000 ... toshiba, fujitsu

its exactly like this one....

Question is.... What hdd's can I buy that will be compatible with the laptop (not a clue about sockets here).. or can anyone find an outlet which has these models in stock failing any other compatible hdd's.....

see the picture on the ebay aution....it says the relevant model number details / manufacturer etc...

Look up your laptop manufacturer's website and check the manual for expansion options, it should tell you the maximum size. THese days it's not usually a problem. :wink:

Well, correct me if I am wrong all internal HDD Laptop drives are 2.5".

I don't think you need to be brand specific just the type of connection in your Laptop.

I did not see the picture you posted but... while typing this I looked into the specs and it says this particular laptop drive connection is IDE...

So whatever size your drive was 160GB, 250GB or more, make sure it is:

2.5" IDE (insertHDDSize) could pick one up from PC World cheapish... or just have a scout on Overclockers or eBuyer... and I use a company called http://www.uk.insight.co.uk helpful I find. Only from a business point of view I use them. Never tried personal.

The link above is where I found out, your drive is IDE...
