So your saying you've plugged a speaker in and there is no bleeps? Whats is the case by the way?

This is the speaker point we was talking about.

Sounds like you may have to RMA the board then.

Here's a few extra links. The light on motherboard just shows there's power on the +5V rail, it says nothing about the state of the 12V. It should not be on when your plugging in or taking anything out of the motherboard or you could blow it.

Can you check the pins on the CPU socket are all ok?
Also have you got a muti-meter you can check the voltage on the rails as well?

You can also pull the whole thing out the case and run it outside the case and see if it boots up (Just be carefull about static) (Although what I've read if it is a short it won't even show the led):

Quote:
I have a GA-EP45, and i had a similar problem...my conclusion: something was making a short-circuit, because, with all components outside the case it worked. I believe that the boards with 2 oz cooper are more likelly to have this kind of problem, because the extra cooper conducts more eletricity...

What i have done to solve the problem: i have used a non-conductive material to isolate the case from the motherboard( i put only on the mounting holes)..

And here's another massive long thread to keep to occupied over the weekend: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/252166-12-dead-motherboard-beep-bios-screen
