I had a major virus / rootkit issue the past 2 weeks.... must of tried like all the most usual rated programs like malwarebyes , s&d, super anti spyware, ad-aware, avira anti virus, spyware doctor etc, mcafee, norton....
ALL FAILED.... as it happens the only program that solved my problem was, ironically....
Microsoft Security Essentials
its free...and its deemed to be the best program out at the moment...

If I could find the thread, I would point out that you said you never needed any protection... yet several times you've seemed to have had the "daddy" of bad viruses that cannot be removed by any means at all  So do you now have firewall/antivirus/anti-malware (real time protection, not scan on demand which you then never do!).  oh, and keep windows bang up to date, and don't use IE

haha your right Chips.... it's very rare I have my virus software enabled....
to be fair I had no viruses for like 1.5 years..... then out the blue I got that.
I now have this enabled except when I play games. I disable it during game-pllaying then re-enable afterwards.
yes I always keep windows security updates enabled
i don't visit any dodgy sites.

if it's coming from browsing, there's a sandbox thing somewhere... I can't rememebr the name. Basically it sandboxes the browser (going from memory) so if anything nasty happens to browser, it's contained. In other words, run sandbox, from sandbox run browser, safe.. but I can't remember what it's called,. seee, f'kin useful me *edit* think it's this sort of thing: http://www.sandboxie.com/

aye some anti virus & internet security software will do the same (kaspersky) some browsers now have this feature, although without googlin, i don't which ones. * good call on that sandboxie  _________________
