lo all.
as you know, i like to use my 5.1 speakers for gaming, everyone i have tried over the years always picks up the game sounds when using voice comms.

I even got a throat mic, but it sounds to bassy to be usable for comms and of course you cant adjust treble anymore in windows.
but does anyone know if you can actually buy a proper noise cancelling mic that works?

I think you're going to have to look at studio quality microphones rather than gaming stuff? most of it is either cheap and basic or it's attached to a headset

although having a quick look for studio quality microphones, most of what i found was marketed to actually pick up more ambient sound
i'm sure there are (semi) professional noise cancelling microphones out there though.

or maybe there are third party programs, rather than using windows, that can adjust your input in real time so you can still use the throat mic?

i dont think its anythnig to do with the mic end - i think you need the soundcard / software to cancel out a input that matches a output if you get me. i have seen this done in real time to dampen out noice polution but never for a game etc

creative have noise silencer, but it needs a dual mic microphone, which so far i can only find on full size headsets which seems stupid as you dont really need noise cancellation with headphones compared to using a mic with speakers.

and i already have a few good quality mics including a technics shotgun mic, but still picks up the game sounds

i don't think eliminating the output from the soundcard directly would work properly. the digital output won't be the same as the actual analog output the speakers provide, think consistency in quality/amplifier settings/...

for noise cancelling microphones you basically have two mics in 1. the one furthest away from you is there as a control to measure ambient noise, while the closer one is mainly to pick up your speech. By removing the sounds that are of the same volume in both mics, it will reduce general noise, while your speech will be left alone. (it being of a higher volume in the closest microphone) :thumbl:

now instead of using one active noise cancelling microphone, maybe there is software that will allow you to use two seperate microphones and use them as above?
so you could manually position one next to your speakers and the other closer to where you sit and talk?

great minds think alike, I just bought a 3.5mm stereo splitter cable so i could hook up 2 mono mics i have to fake a dual mic to see if it works.

but my favorite idea was to use my technics shotgun mic mounted above the pc desk pointing directly at me so i wouldnt even need to use a headset at all for comms. but i need to see if i can set up decent noise cancellation first.

the technics one is fairly good, about 180 quid. but i'm not going to fork out for a more expensive one unless i can get the concept to work.

Going to mess about today with a few different setups to see

er, thats the exact throat mic i already have. works very well except that i have too low a voice and it makes it lower. It works perfectly if i use voicefx to change the voice to a higher pitch.

But why the feck cant we simply adjust treble/tone in windows, then it would work perfectly.
i'm looking to get a preamp or similer with tone/bass controls to sort it.
