soo, my work are looking at getting 3 new towers and monitors for the office here, they got a quote from some local computer guys which i thought was a bit of a ripoff soo i offered to beat the quote. they offered: HP 500B MT Intel Pentium E5800 2GB PC3-10600 DDR3 500GB HDD 7200 SATA DVD+/-RW Win 7 pro 64-bit 1 year warranty. £399.00 excluding VAT, £478 with VAT. Samsung S19A200NW 18.5" LCD 1440x900 VGA. £88 excluding VAT, £105 after VAT. i offered: Coolermaster case + PSU - £49.98 Gigabyte GA-G41MT-S2P G41 - £35.36 Core 2 Duo E7500 - £91.66 Corsair 4GB DDR3 1333MHz - £20.06 Western Digital WD5000AADS 500GB - £50.00 Sony Optiarc AD-5260S 24x DVD±RW - £14.99 Xenta SATA 2.0 to right angle - £1.93 x 2 Win 7 Pro 64-bit - £107.21 (need to look into getting it cheaper on a charity license) this comes to a total of £373.12 (including VAT) i offered to do it for £390 soo it beats the other guys quote, is considerably better spec, and i'd get roughly £50 just for building 3 computers also better monitor Samsung SyncMaster E2220N TFT LCD 21.5" VGA - £84.99 what do you guys thinks? is all the stuff i picked allright yeh? |

Looks good but for only £9.35 more per unit you can go nearly twice as fast http://www.ebuyer.com/279549-asrock-h61m-vs-socket-1155-vga-5-1-channel-audio-matx-motherboard-h61m-vs http://www.ebuyer.com/254976-intel-core-i3-2100-3-10ghz-socket-1155-3mb-l3-cache-retail-boxed-bx80623i32100 Good Luck whatever you decide |

cheers luke, ill give them that as another option, but ill have to bump the total price of the tower up to £400 soo i can make money from it, depends on how much they want to spend. i also came up with a budget option for about £300 if they want it cheap, but i think the one i posted above is the best option, unless they're happy with £400 per unit. |

get a slower cpu and more mem - is better for business apps your version of a better PC and a manager who knows FA about IT are a million miles apart - also 50 quid for making 3 PC's - you undersell your self |

what he said... 50 quid might sound a lot to you... but 40-50 quid per build is more like it... |

Supporting home computers are one thing but I wouldn't touch business computers with a barge pole. Say the hard drive of one of them goes wrong nine months down the line and loses a load of data... Have they already got a backup system in place? Server? It can be done but you need to let them know that the company is responsible for the PC's once they are built, not you personally. |

they have a server for the systems which is backed up onto portable harddrives every day which are kept in a safe, and the database automatically saves to the server everytime you do anything. all thats actually on the harddrives of the computers is the office suite and the operating system. soo pretty safe on that front caspius. as for what the rest of you are saying, ill revise the quote i gave them and use a cheaper CPU, that way ill get a bit more money, didnt really think i should take more than like 50 quid for it, but ill go for it now |

What about these ready made bare bones: http://www.ebuyer.com/279903-acer-aspire-m1930-desktop-pt-sgce9-005 Fine for a bit of word processing, web browsing but don't expect to do anything 3D on it. |

casp/rick the problem there is that i cant buy the stuff in myself and then sell it to them at whatever i want, they'll have to buy the stuff and have it delivered to the work soo i can sort it, therefore they know exactly what its costing. |
