So crashes have stopped happening since I reset the harddrive by putting it in my dads pc, but now it comes up with can't find ntdlr (or something to that effect - I know its a boot file for XP) and cuz it won't load it, points to a harddrive fault right? But how has the same thing happened on 7 harddrives?

I'm not as smart as a lot of the other suckers inhere when it comes to PCs but have you tried the basics. Strip the hardware down to the bare minimum and formatting the PC with only 1 harddrive in and reinstalling Win?
