I need a new harddrive but not sure what to get so I come to ask you muppets :D.

What should I get?

Some of you are brilliant at this so just tell me what to buy..

I read that Hitachi Deskstars has a lot less errors than Seagate barracuda plus I've read about issues with WD green and red (but what about black?)

I need it for the usual stuff.. gaming and storage and it's doent have to be super big (1-2 TB should be plenty).

I haven't been gaming for ages but I was thinking about doing it a bit again on thursdays nights (or when pls are on these days).

I have a WD Black drive, seems to do it's job well

Can't remember too much but that line got good reviews back when I bought it, 2 years ago I think?

You could go for the more expensive NAS designed ones, supposed to be (quite) a bit more stable/durable, but feck knows which one is best
Haven't been up to date with hardware for a while tbh

If you dont need to much storage, then go for a ssd, use it for the OS and games. You could always add a normal mechanical drive for storage.

Thanks all.

I ended up picking a Toshiba HDD it should be the same as the Hitachi Deskstar which is suppose to have a low fail rate. I will get a SSD for Windows etc like Coolman suggested.

I agree with Coolman - Get a SSD Windows (min 250Gb) and use the mech drive for storage.

I've got the same set up:

Internal
OS Drive - Crucial: 128GB SSD - (Runtime of 8815 hours and HWinfo says it has 98% life remaining) Win 10
Seagate: 1TB

External (For back up of main disks (Acronis images))
Western Digital 2TB USB 3 (Kept switch off unless I need to back up)
