Dear Friends, long time no speak,

My PC finally gave up the ghost last night and have decided to treat myself to a new beast.

Problem is I have no idea what is good, what is bad etc, to give you an insight the PC that just packed up was an AMD 4000+ and that was top drawer when I bought it - must be at least 4 years ago now.

So I have a budget of £500 and that needs to cover CPU, MOBO, RAM and PSU. I dont want to spend more than that and I am not into overclocking - I dont need to be at the bleeding edge of technology so something stable that will last 2 years + would be great. The PC will mainly be used for gaming.

Apologies that I havent put together a spec for comment its just that I am so out of touch of what is available at the moment.

In terms of assumptions, I pressume I need Quad Core ? or i7 ? 4gb Ram ? I only use Asus mobos as I have never had an issue with them.

So thanks for reading and any help is warmly appreciated.

King !

Beefy me old mate, thanks for the response but it is completely what I do NOT need. Please read my 1st post if you want to help. I am quite capable of doing searches on OCUK but if you read my 1st post it does give insight into the help I need and why.

Thanks again.

PS, Also why woudlnt I use the my current card in a new system for the time being ?

to keep prices down, dont go for the high end stuff, but newer mid range. and i would recommend an sli motherboard as you could pick up another 8800 gtx and really up your performance.
Motherboard £99
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... ubcat=1495
cpu £160
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... ubcat=1272
ram £80
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... ubcat=1517

Grand total £410
and mabey a second 8800gtx and still be under budgeet
http://www.amazon.co.uk/XFX-8800GTX-768 ... 046&sr=8-1
psu £70

But its just a suggestion.
