oooo scythes are soo much cheaper.... I may be going with one of those. which one should i get? they all seem to be about the same price so i assume there is a marginal difference in performance

price =/ performance

price = marketing spin (it expensive so must be good)

performance = king

Those Delta fans are FANTASTIC ....if you want to know what it's like living in a hut at the end of a runway at Heathrow :shock:

Have a look at this: hxxp://www.thermalright.com/a_page/main_product_ultra120_extreme.htm

I'm not sure if it's out yet, but has had some good reviews, alternatively there the standard ultra 120 going for £30 - £35 all over the shop. The last two heatsinks I've bought have been Thermalright's and they've produced some impressive temperature drops over stock/other coolers.

so the contenders so far are

Scythe ninja - hxxp://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... =HS-003-SY

zalman cnp9700- hxxp://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... subcat=821

ultra 120 (comes with no fan)- hxxp://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... subcat=821

tuniq tower 120 - hxxp://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... =HS-000-SB

Silent fan here: hxxp://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-004-SY&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=4

"The Scythe S-FLEX fans are equipped with genuine S-FDB (Sony Fluid Dynamic Bearings). S-FDB technology drastically eliminates the friction between the bearing and the shaft which makes this fan nearly inaudible to human ears. The additional suction magnet optimises the magnetic force balance within the rotor to achieve absolute silence. To make this fan even quieter, the fan is equipped with the Linear drive IC for reducing electromagnetic noise."

- Dim: 120 x 120 x 25mm
- Rated speed: 1200 RPM
- Sound: 20.1 dB(A)
- Air flow: 49.0 CFM
- Bearing: S-FDB

I don't pretend to know what any of that means, but I want some :)

Scythe Ninja. >.>

Persoanally, if I had the choice now, I'd get a Scythe Ninja over my Zalman and it's fairly small compared to the others and offers very good cooling.

I would buy one and fit it in place of my 1 month old Zalman 9500... but... I had no idea how to get the Thermal Crud off the CPU. I suppose I could use alcohol or something, I think they recommend not using brake cleaner. > <;;

Q-Tip + Rubbing Alcohol is recommended from what I've heard. I just don't have any of the stuff and I doubt they'd sell it to me thinking I'd drink it. >.<;;

sycthe, tower or zalman.

the temp differences will only be a few ºC (and the most expensive wont necessarily the best), you are making this far harder than it needs to be.

buy the cheaper one, as imo its the best and its cheapest.

just buy one and stop whining :P

To be honest, any fan is better than stock and all those fans are good. I'd buy any one of them, preferebly the Scythe because it's the best one in my opinion and the best bang for buck.
