It always has done, and always will do.

However, microdirect are always cheaper than overclockers too - which helps

Should be half that in less than 3 weeks, if it is, you can slap him from me.

Well put it this way, whatever price drops americans get, the drop for us brits would be doubled, e.g. 1 US$ = 0.497339235 UK£, or the other way, 1 UK£ = 2.0107 US$ :D

Should be like £135 in a couple weeks ^_^, I'm gonna buy it next year though I think, will be like..£90 then or something..unless AMD is dead by then, then it will like £3k :P.

ATM my new comp I just planned out will cost £1100 lol, so definitely a computer for next year I think.

the issue i have is that Intel is releasing its new ramped up core 2 CPUs with hight bus and more mhz. So they cut away very good CPU's in favour of slightly better CPUs which only a handful of people can use. I cant see my E6600 going out of date anytime soon even though i bought it on the day it came out :) . Also, with the new DDR3 RAM which works best with the new 45 NM CPU's.

AMD are working on a new 16 core CPU the way i heard it, it is a true 16 core rather than Intels quads which are 2 dual cores stuck together. If your wondering why AMD are doing this, aparently they are more longterm than intel, and intel take small profitable steps, while AMD take large expencive steps, and buy GFX card companies :s

Not neccessarily, go and have a look at the priing for Windows, or Adobe products in America, versus the UK version the conversions dont work out, Amaerica still pays less than us all in all.

So rather than make a chip that is good, reliable and competes instantly with the core 2 duo, they do research and fall 3 billion in debt and buy a GFX card company, wtf?

They bought the GFX card before they were in debt lol. I think that's pretty much the reason why their in the debt in the first place, as well as no one buying their CPU's anymore.

"In July of last year, AMD and ATI merged to form one of the largest semiconductor companies. The cost of the acquisition was an enormous burden for AMD: $5.4 billion USD. Analysts at the time said that the acquisition would be a bad move for AMD, noting that the chip company would be better off plunking the large amount of cash in other core businesses like micro processors.

"Of the $5.4 billion that it took to purchase ATI, AMD borrowed roughly $2.5 billion in loans and combined with $1.2 billion common stock. The acquisition not only cost AMD much of its available principle but also left it in heavy debt. At the time, AMD did not disclose plans of how it would pay off the debt."

At the end of last year, AMD had $1.5 billion in cash and $3.8 billion in debt, including $2.2 billion associated with the ATI acquisition."

Anyone know if this happened? I can't find anything out about it at the present, yet microdirect have the E6750 at a nice price of 117 quid, which is cheaper than the 6600 that they have.

Read a write up, the chip performed very well - more expensive than i originally budgeted for a processor - but it looks good.

Question is whether to buy as price cuts aren't happening, or hold off til they do.

Yes, my budget is THAT tight that I can wait another few weeks in order to milk all the performance I possibly can from a new system.

The 6750 also overclocks well apparently :o
