i know that some people on here have wirless. and for most of them they dont lag that much, and yet i lag and warp everytime i make a step. is that because you all have better computers? my comp must of cost £200 at the most because it was just an extra present for christmas last year so it wont be that good. could this be a reason why i lag more than others with wireless? and if so do you reckon this would do the trick? Asus A8N SLI-Premium AMD Athlon 64 FX60 @2.8GHZ Corsair XMS3200 2x1GB Western Digital Raptor 74GB nVidia BFG GeForce 7900 GTX @ 680/1700 Viewsonic vp2030b 20.1" LCD Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Fatal1ty SB X-Fi Audio [8000] Hyper 580W SLI Modular Coolermaster Preatorian 732 Black Creative 5.1 Surround System/ Icemat Siberia Keyboard: Razer Tarantula Mouse: Razer Copperhead Tempest Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (that is what my cousin has and i know its better than mine) |

Its unlikely to be your pc mate. Seems pretty high speced to me Firstly what ISP do you use and what speed is it meant to be? Secondly make sure you or no one else on the network is dl'ing anything when your gaming, including torrenting, i-tunes, or up-loading pics to facebook etc. Go to this website and run a speed test on your broadband and check its around the speed your meant ot be getting from your ISP. http://specials.zdnet.co.uk/misc/band-test/ Finally what wireless network adapter do you have? and how far away are you from the router? TP |

are there any other wireless networks that might be interfering with your signal? (or wireless phones, microwaves... ? anything on the 2.4ghz frequency?) if so, try a different channel for the router (if there's a different network using channel 6, use either 1 or 11 ), you can normally change that by logging on to the router and going to the channel settings and even if your computer's weak, it would just have a low fps, not a high ping right? |

dont get the A64 - get a core base system instead , will be cheaper and much faster also the bandwidth test tests just that - bandwidth and latencey are not the same download a windows version of multi trace route and point it at the cs server - it will show where your problems are |

if your looking for a new machine this sort of thing would be better: Asus P5B (Wifi) Intel C2D E6600 Corsair XMS3200 2x1GB Western Digital Raptor 150Gb (the 150Gb is better with NCQ etc) nVidia 8800GTS (oor wait till the lower end dx10 cards come out) Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Extreme Music (x-ram is useless!) Hyper 580W SLI Modular Coolermaster Preatorian 732 Black Creative 5.1 Surround System/ Icemat Siberia Keyboard: Razer Tarantula Mouse: Razer Copperhead Tempest Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 would seriously consider a widescreen monitior if your looking for a new one. as for the wireless issues, whats the card? whats the signal strenght like (just cos your close doesnt mean much) shrek |
