Current: Cpu: AMD XP 2400+ Ram: 1GB PC2700 DDR-333 IDE Hard Drives: Primary: 120Gb Seagate Barracuda ATA-100 Secondary: 250Gb Maxtor MB: ASUS A7V333 Video: Galaxy GF 6800 with Artic cooler - OC 25Mhz(Was GF3 Ti 200 64Mb) AGP 3DMark03: 8126 Want to upgrade this to get a bit more oomph, but as cheap as possible, a stop gap before I go all the way to PCI-E which I can't aford. Gaming I'm not to bothered about but need it more for Photoshop and Apps. I can get a IDE to SATA convertor for the Hard drives.. Been looking at Ebay but not really sure what to buy... |

your want to find one of these GigaByte GA-K8NSC-939 Motherboard - still finding a non US source Off ebay currently £10 4 days to go with a 3500 single core processor Sorry its not better And chuck one of these AMD X2 4600 or lower |

Have another way that doesnt mean PCI graphics but means you need to get most of the rest of the compatible parts but keep the still brilliant 6800GT. AGP AM2 Mother board £39.94 AMD X2 3800 £92.81 2GB DDRII RAM £166.83 |

I am at a similar stage...but only hav a 9800 Pro. Gonna change Mobo, CPU, RAM and G card to... Asus Mobo + 3800+ X2 1Gb 5400 DDR2 X1950 Pro All for around £314 |

Well decided to go down Intel route in the end, after many years with AMD : Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 1.86ghz Lga775 Fsb800 2mb Retail Boxed £116.06 Inc. VAT and ASRock 775DUAL-VSTA SKT 775 VIA PT880Pro/ultra with conroe support AGP PCI-E 7.1 channel audio ATX - 36.99 inc VAT Not sure how much boost I will get but should help a bit. Cheep and cheerful. |
