Post subject: 1080i LCD HDTV buying advice please? :(
Post Posted: Sat Dec 23, 2006 6:18 pm
Ok here goes :P

I've owned an Xbox360 for a couple of months now & I want a LCD HDTV to do it justice.
My current TV is a 6 year old 28" widescreen I bought cheap from Argos which has done me proud with watching Sky/DVD's & playing PS2 etc.

I dont want a much bigger TV as its in my Bedroom & I dont want to kick it off its stand while Im sleeping  32" would be min & 40" (possibly 42" dependant on build) max.

Im not fussed about Brands, although an Amberlight would be cool, I could live without it.

Ive searched like mad for a suitable one online & just when I think I have it sorted theres always a problem. For example on the price comparison sites it will say the TV is LCD with 1900x1080 resolution but when I click on the relevent store it turns into a Plasma or has 1366x768p native resolution but supports 1080i input

I also get confused with contrast ratio as some TV's have really low & some really high. Does this matter to much ie much difference for example 800:1 - 1800:1?

Infact the more specs I look at on various models the more confused & frustrated I get

My budget would be 1k cash without finance but upto 2k buy now pay later or 0% interest deals.

So can anyone find me a suitable 32"- 42" 1900x1080i Native resolution LCD (not Plasma) TV between £1000-£2000 or cheaper?

Or do you own a similar TV or recommend an alternative? Are Plasma's just as good & have they fixed the 5 year life span with picture quality?

:?

This is best one so far

It's a bit of a mine field thats for sure. You seem to know exactly what you want so don't settle for less.

went to look at the - it truely is a beast but OMG how big !!!!!

I reckon i'm going to go for a 32" Sony, cos I have a projector in the lounge and watch movies on that.....would be a little overkill to have two BIG screens.....but need a telly for news/trash on box/cos it doesnt have a noisy fan :D
