Post subject:  Monitors

I'm looking for a monitor. Must be a flatscreen LCD whatever you wanna call it.

Looking for one that is DVI compatiable and prefebly widescreen.

Can anyone recommend me one? I currently have a Samsung SyncMaster 152N which only supports 1024x768 and comes with a crappy response rate, lol. I intend to dual screen but for gaming I have a lolGeforce 8800GTS 640MB

I can afford up to about £250 but would prefer to spend around £200.

Any experience related recommendations or one that you know of that 'just purely rocks'?

EDIT: And can someone tell me what the contrast ratios are all about? Is 3000:1 better than 700:1? I presume it means (amount of shading):(pixel)?

I would never buy a dell pc, and i always tell everyone never to buy one.

The LGM228WA from play.com will be teh shex.

The contrast ratio is how bright the brightest possible pixel is compared to the darkest possible pixel. Because of some cheeky way in which they measure it, it'll say something like 3000 (dynamic), its basically 700. 1000 does mean 1000 though.

I trust Samsung (had this one what... 5 years? And it's used practically 24/7) and the Samsung SyncMaster SM225BW 22" Widescreen seems better bang for buck compared to the Dell E228WFP 22" Widescreen

Amusingly, they're probably the same panel (made by Samsung) :)

I just recently bought a Samsung 226BW 22" widescreen for about 350 euro ~ 240 pounds.

I'm very happy with it. It's my first flatscreen and widescreen, before this I always had CRT. It has a very good refresh rate of 2ms grey to grey and the brightness is very high....sunglasses anyone?

It isn't adjustable in high but can tilt. This is the only downside I found so far. But I bought a monitor arm to change that.

Yeah had to wait 4 weeks or so. Samsung had some delivery issues and a high demand so a lot of people are waiting on this screen.
