Are you kidding ? A 8600 card won´t let you play on ultra high and with 60+ FPS in Crysis. Were you at the GC 2007 ?

Were you? :|

Anyway, the new midrange cards are on the whole mighty disappointing. But as the new drivers appear the 2600 appears to be bettering the 8600, but they are both pretty crap. :(

I was at GC 2006 and GC 2007 and had the chances to play Crysis both times and be sure it won´t run very well with a card like the 8600 which is not a gaming card at all.

from crysis online
Quote:
Recommended Requirements

CPU: Dual-core CPU (Athlon X2/Pentium D)
Graphics: Nvidia 7600 or ATI X1600 Pro (SM 3.0) or DX10 equivalent
RAM: 1.5GB+
HDD: 6GB
Internet: 512k+ (128k+ upstream)
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX9.0c with Windows XP

So if a 7600 can run it on recommended settings i think a 8600 should gobble it up :D

Hes got a point, recommended settings will run it on low / mid, minimum will run it on..well, minimum :D, 640x800 resolution ftl.

ego - Did you hear at all about how well the x1950xt / 8800GTS will perform in-game on Crysis?

What kind of settings for say, 1280x1024? Medium/high?

As I have a x1950 XT myself I am confident it will run at mid to high but not ultra high which is not possible due to to less RAM than a 8800 Ultra or x2900 XT.

This game is still in beta state as far as I saw. It was buggy and not well balanced. The most important part I think is the CPU. A dual-core processor will boost performance a lot in Crysis which I just read somewhere.
