http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/157391 The link shows the laptop i was thinking of getting.... I'm looking to spend around £1200. If you have seen anything better then can you let me know. Also, do you advise me to stay with XP due to running DC. All your help and suggestions would be great on these few issues. Thanks Mark. |

yeah Vista is well capable of taking up 1 gb of memory... just for the operating system... In my opinion a OS is supposed to make a computer run smoother... not take up all its resources XP for me...XP32 as well... XP64 support is shite.. |

thankyou for the input so far..... Most of the factory lappy's in PC world have Vista already on them. I wonder if they could do XP Pro? I looked at alienware but its pricey...like £1800 |

Looks schweet. If its got Vista already, may thats a good thing, possibly the drivers issues have been sorted for that model, who knows. Would they sell hardware with incompatible software? /ducks for cover. |

do not go for vista, i've had no end of trouble with vista, crahes, combatibility etc, plus a lot of friends that had the issue with their laptops been locked out by mirosoft thinking they were pireted versions when they were pre-installed compaq and dell . I just wiped vista of my laptop(t came with it) and put xp on, its so much faster and runs without any issues |

Get Vista, create a ghost image of the drive on an external hard drive. Then format and install XP on it. You can always add Vista back later then. |

water cooled landing gear lol. Its amazing now, I have noticed that buying a laptop these days is all about making money after sales, as it is with most things. I only get microsoft office for so many days then i have to pay for it. that goes for most of the stuff on the laptop. anyways , moan over. I best go and buy a disk so that i can make a recovery disk. Then i'll need some help in wiping this vista off my machine. Do you think its worth trying dc with vista first before i wipe it? |
