DVD drives don't conform to region crap! Any region should work upon them. It's only on retail dvd players that it matters, and if you've got region 2, region 4 won't work. Not sure whether it's due to the PAL format whilst America/Japan utilise another format of colour conversion, but it's something similar. |

Thats why im asking. on my PC, i need to change the setting when i try to put a different region dvd in, so im after a fix for that. and is there something i can get for the stand-alone dvd player to play dvds from these 2 regions? i havent bought one yet (though i have a cheap region 4 player, but i dont mind upograding). |

try this for yoor player. the folowing codes will turn your player into what is called "region-free". If you require the player to be a single region, for example region 1, then simply repeat the process and replace the "0" with a "1". This may be required if you have trouble playing DVDs purchased from outside the UK that have Region Code Enhancement technology on them. These titles are in a minority and you will find a substantial amount of titles will play without the need to change region. Our recommendation is that you set the player to region 0 and change to a specific region when the need arises. Press system menu on remote control Go to preference settings Press 1,3,5,5,6,6 Press 0 Press system menu on remote to exit |

hxxp://www.infocellar.com/DVD/regions.htm in the middle of the article it has a link to download "dvd region killer" which is a small app which deletes the registry keys which are associated with the countdown timer... just install the program (freeware) - and you won't have to worry about remaining changes that you talk about... that's the solution for watching dvds on your pc. |

kal had about 20 "oh and one last thing i forgot to tell you..." moments that was at 2am... before you knew it, it was 3am.... by the end he somehow managed to twist it around ... and gave me the status that i now proudly carry... |
