I am still desperate to get back on two wheels and have firmly knocked the scooter idea on the head. I can't really afford a bike (I'll get a loan), don't want second hand, my last two were ruined by bad "upgrades". I don't really need one either but its driving me mad not having one.

I have been thinking about the new Kawasaki Versys. Which used to be called the KLV650. It's got a proper front wheel unlike the Transalp, 800GS, Verado, V-Strom etc but still has that upright riding positions and a nice twin (parallel). I really don't want another high revving four. See where I am going with this. My only other real alternative is the Suzuki SV650 which I have had my eye on for a few years, or the BMW 800GS which is approaching eight grand with the options I would like, or the KTM 650 supermoto whatsit.

So, opinions?

ps NO Sports bike medieval torture racks.

Sorry to hear that mate, lost a couple of friends myself, and used to hear all the horror stories from the people who's bikes we used to repair for the insurance companies.
It's just one of those bad things in life that you can't give up, similar to alcohol, nicotine and masturbation.
