Hiya guys I currently have specs as below:
MSI K9N Platinum(nForce 570 SLI?)
AMD X2 5200+ - stock cooler
Sapphire X1950Pro 256MB
2GB Crucial RAM(cant remember speed)
Hipr Type R 680W PSU
X-Fi Xtremegamer soundcard
only 1 HDD atm
however my computer has been seriously overheating(especially northbridge heatsink??) and causing crashes regularly over last year Ive had it(bout every 3 months take a week to fix then is fine). This has meant a lot of hours hitting walls and such. Anyway the last time is was sent back to be fixed the mobo had fried and took a while to get replacement out to university(although I did pick up the guitar in the 2months it was gone so not all bad...lol)
i was wondering what sort of CPU coolers you guys would recommend to cool it bit better(as I currently dont have enough money to build whole new system Im doin a bit of a botch job on it to tide me over). I mainly use it for gaming(obviously) and I have done a bit of work on making airflow bit better by moving wires etc within case/constantly clean dust etc out of fans/PSU/heatsink etc.
I have a space for a 120mm fan on rear, possible replacement of air intake on front from 92mm to 120mm, and unsure what to replace stock CPU fan with(is it worth buying new heatsink to go with it?). I have a basic case so air intake at front aint great and im not planning on OCing another in the near future, therefore just sumthing thats reasonably quiet for performance and maybe a bit of bling on it.
Any response would be much appreciated!

I think you can buy northbridge coolers seperatly (or just botch a 40mm fan on top of your orig heatsink
As for CPU cooling you cant beat the Arctic freezer pro
£15 on Ebuyer and it has 90+ 5 star reviews

For my CPU i got me one of these. You can leave the fan off if you want but its quiet at even 'high' speeds. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... subcat=821and I've noticed a drop in temperature and even after a long session it still stays low. I haven't changed my nothbridge fan over to a heat sink because 1. its right under my gfx card so there is no space and 2. the fan as actually quite quiet. can anyone think up an excuse for getting these fans.
