Right I need some advice about a new pair of gaming heaphones for myself. I've had these bad boys for about 2 1/2 years but i've broke one of the ear connections so they are pretty dead http://www.amazon.co.uk/Speed-Link-SL-8 ... B00011N2XK They were 5.1 surrond phones and were connected into my soundcard (not USB). I was wondering if there is any significant difference between modern 5.1 headsets (there's not many about) and USB headsets and if it's worth bothering again with a set of phones that connect through my soundcard or whether it would be best to go for USB ones. Any advice and help and suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance (Price up to about £30 too, although I could stretch it a bit, but the less financial impact the better) |

I could put my usual rant about 5.1s in here, but I won't because I have an exam in an hour. Get normal analogue 2.0 headphones. There, you get a hell of a lot more speaker for your cash than you do with usb or 5.1 The part that follows is fanboy, ignore if you wish: Sennheiser - cheap and reasonable: http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electro ... oduct.html £17 Sennheiser - less cheap, much much much better: http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electro ... oduct.html £35 Of course have a google around, but the Sennheiser HD range are amazing |

Is the difference between 5.1 surround phones and 2.0 significantly different. What about Sennheisers with an attached mic (those you mentioned dont have one incorporated). I was thinking about the following: Sennheiser PC151 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... %20(500927) Or Sennheiser PC161 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... %20(500927) Still not sure though |

I'm still hunting before i take the plunge i'm pretty sure i'll be fine as long as i dont choose a really crappy pair. But i will have to get a move on as the sellotape holding my Medusas together is going to fail. I am leaning towards the Sennheisers at the mo. |
