ok guys got £200 to play with

currently got

q6600
cheapo gigabyte motherboard
4GB ddr2 ram
ATI 5850
ATI XFI fatality soundcard
23" monitor
cheapo case + cheapo 500w psu
250GB HD

Was looking at maybe a SSD and a new case. Something like the fractal R3 and a intel SSD.

so any advice on ssd drives and the R3 case? Any suggestion of anything i could spend my money on better?

imo putting a lot of money into a case is useless. unless your current one has really bad airflow it won't give you any added performance and you only really look at it when starting up or changing a dvd anyway.

i'm not really up to date on parts anymore, so don't know what brand or model is best, but a ssd should be pretty decent value :thumbl:

Get rid of the cheapo psu (quality is better than excess power) then worry about quality components.

erm - if your not playing games what else do you do with the comp?
dont spend 200 on it just for the sake of it is the best advice i can give
the ssd is then only thing you can stick in a new puter when the time comes

only reason i want a new case is that my current one is a garish silver thing with a stupidly large front fan. Really like the look of the fractal R3.

SSD just keep getting cheaper so maybe wait for next pc build, psu needs replacing with a decent one.

all i do is play games and off bit of internet. Wanted something to go with the 5850 if you get me. Got a great gpu but wondered if the cpu/mobo/ram was letting it down? cant afford to upgrade that though..... hmmmmm

The stupidly large front fan is probably doing a good job keeping your hard drives cool....? As OAP said, invest in a decent PSU and don't worry about other bits until later. Seasonic are good, as are Fortran Source, Antec.
