I'm looking for a 2TB USB 3 Hard Drive to keep a duplicate of things that are on my internal hard drive. I permanently back up files I want to keep to DVD.

These are what I looked at:
- Buffalo 2TB DriveStation External Hard Drive £110 2 year warranty
- WD 2TB My Book Essential USB 3.0 External Hard Drive £94.93 2 year warranty
- LaCie P'9230 USB 3.0/ USB 2.0 2TB Porsche Design Desktop Drive £110 2 year Warranty

Should I have a preference on the make?

I got a 2 TB WD with a USB 3 card in the end. I'm using Acronis True Image Home to back up the partitions on from my internal HD's. For the first time ever I now have a decent back up of everything on the PC.

Something like this.

but esata would be faster if your pc has esata ports?

I can't answer that for fear of incriminating myself and my backed up partitions...

I'm no IT guy but is the problem not sorted by having enough space in the freezer for the drive? Atleast I think that what my buddy Roberto does when they give up on him :D.. Think he got the advice from some pro IT guys.
