I've got a spare 50Gig Partition... Going back to basics:

1. What do I need to do to install linux? Considering its a dual booting operating system..... Starting from scratch.
2. If I get bored with it  Is it easy to remove?
3. Which one looks the nicest? Are there any rip offs of OSX?
4. In everyday usage what can I use it for? Considering I use photoshop, Quarkxpress, MS Office, Acrobat and Gaming... The XP does these pretty fine...

:?

i use SUSE (5 cds download edition) on me laptop, went on nice and smothely, only hiccup was me deleting my windows partition (twice :? )

i'd reccomend finding a cheap copy of the DVD full OS version though, that comes with everything (and saves downloading 4 gigs of disk images)

Removal procedure is easy. You only need to delete partition with linux, and then, boot from windows xp CD then recovery console, then type fixmbr, to restore the original master boot record.

Those are the "relative" software:

Photoshop - The Gimp
MS Office - Open Office 2.0
Acrobat - Acrobat (there are a lot of readers)
QuarkXPress - Alyssa (if my memory still workin')

For gaming...

There are some game that are native for linux and windows like America's Army, Doom 3, Quake.

Other games, some can run under "Wine", other can run under "Cedega", a lot of others... dont run :(

Dirext X games only run on Windows, such as CS:S abd CoD2, while Open GL games will work on Linux such as Doom3 and.....some others.......I think.

There are OSX skins that you can install. Apple's interface is based on an open source standard that's used by all over the shop - Solaris being an example.

Ian neglected to mention OpenOffice - it's free and the latest version is much improved with a lot more similarities to MS Office (Don't know if that's a good or bad point :? )
