[Cracks Knuckles] This is my main machine, the first i've built from scratch, made this about 2 years ago so a bit outdated but the most reliable ive ever owned.
'The Beast' (thats right its got a name!)
Cpu: AMD XP 2800+ (enourmous heat sink and superquiet fan)
Ram: 1GB
Hard Drive: 1Tb Seagate Barracuda 7200 (500Gb IDE / 500Gb SATA)
MB: ABit An7
Video: Ati Radeon 9800 Pro 256Mb with Sapphire ZM80D-HP GPU cooler (No fans, no fuss.)
Sound: M-Audio Delta 4-10 + M-Audio Audiophile 2496
(in dig sync to give 6 ins 12 outs in total)
Monitor: Samsung SyncManster 930BF 17" TFT / Medion 15" TFT
Power: 500w (extra room for fans, cooling devices, 8 usb ports ect)
Connection: 8 Mb BB (Rated 6 at best)
Bench/3D Mark: (probably dissapointing but ill give it a check what i am at)
Side Dressings:
19" 4u Rack Mounted Server Case (Black )
Logitech Di Novo Bluetooth Media Keyboard
Lightscribe and Sony Dvd Writers (and a black floppy drive to replace the white one lol)
6 Big Fan Switches for Super Quiet Case Fans Off/High/Low
Lots of Soundproofing
Shes not pretty but she gets the job done, then uploads the job, creates a backup of the job, encrypts it and begins to employ its own staff
fUNKUS
PS: I can no longer afford to eat but im still happy.
PPS: Geeks do it in code

Have you tried resitting your heatsink with new gunk?
anything with two fans - 30cm across should run cool...or take off into low orbit
