Everytime I get a blue screen like that it is because my RAM is either overclocked too much or one of the sticks is bad, but then I make sure my PC is kept in good nick so it's quite likely a software issue in this instance.
BTW everytime I've had something overheat it's hardlocked rather than blue screened so I think the kit is still working mate

I would bet on it being your video drivers.
If you reloading, I would do the following
Download latest drivers for your video card before wiping.
Backup everything you need to keep.
Reformat hard drive, reload XP, turn on firewall.
To reformat, boot from XP cd, and follow the setup program.
Choose not to repair existing windows, but install.
It will ask which patition - you can press D (I think) to delete the existing partition.
Press C to confirm - then create a new partition on the empty drive.
Format it as NFS
Setup will continue, once done install the drivers you downloaded first, not the ones that shipped with the card.
Install windows updates (all of them)
Install game
Finally once it's working, put your anti-virus back on.
Restore data

1. - I recall you having got on your high horse before now about being misquoted
2. - Most BSOD's are caused by driver issues

Okies, calm down folks!
righto...
1) Download latest video drivers from http://www.nvidia.com
2) boot in to safe mode (repeated tapping of F8 at boot prompt right after bios)
3) Uninstall drivers, also right click my computer, properties, hardware tab, device manager, look under display adaptors, highlight any adaptors in there and press the del key. Reobbt
4) Boot normally, cancel any requests to install drivers
5) Install downloaded drivers, and reboot
If that dont fix it your in for a rebuild mate.

and this morning i turn on my computer... walk of (normally done after a minute and a half...) and it was asking for me to run in safe mode or restore to last position where it was all working... i tried the restore... didnt work... loaded it in safemode... when to control panel... then exited and restarted... loaded up in 30sec flat... i was thinking wtf was all that bs about on having a problem with windows

i know i've said this before, but all the errors you have had, i've had and it was due to faulty memory module.
1. switch off pc and allow to cool
2. take out 1 module and reboot
2. if everything is fine and presents no probs whatsoever after a length of time, then mark the module as the good one.
3. switch off pc and allow to cool
4. swap modules and carry out the above, now if this one causes any probs, switch off pc, remove the offending piece of crap and proceed to smashing it up with a sledgehammer (not unless its got a 'lifetime guarantee' then take the bugger back)
the 'allow to cool' bit is important (so i've been told) basically i did the above in the morning and then swapped memory over when i got back from the gulag
if you say that you have done the above to the letter , only then i am satisfied that it isnt your memory and i shall get my coat
as said in the other thread, memory probs causes all kinds of problems, i had this for about 3 weeks and trust me i was very, very
good luck anyway and i hope you get it sorted soon
