I'm looking for a good 19-20", at a max cost of something like 350$.
Anyone that knows a good monitor, that fits my needs?
All it needs to be good at, is showing text, lots of text.

SyncMaster 957DF. Huge desktop footprint as it's CRT but blows people away when they set eyes on it. May have to chain it to the desk next time Magoo's visiting..

Not sure why you are so averse to CRT, I'm sure you have perfectly valid reasons, however the drawback with TFT is that should you be unfortunate enough to suffer pixel failures, or a cluster of closely spaced pixels go bad, then I'd be very careful as to the manufacturer's policy on replacements. As you stated, your priority is text, and that's the main thing that is going to suffer if you get missing pixels, and the smaller the text the more the problem is exacerbated.

Imagine you get a pixel missing - between the dot of an i and the main stalk. An 'l' would then be almost indiscernible from an 'i' and the word 'milk' would look like 'miik'.

Once again just trying to heip

Hehehehe

Games; CRT > TFT
Movies; CRT > TFT
Photoshop/any image editing; CRT > TFT

I can't actually think of any situation where TFT is better than CRT, unless it comes down to desk space.

yeah I prefer CRT too, of course my next monitor will be a TFT because I have no room for a huge CRT :(

i have the 930bf and i have to agree with 3of5, it does the job very nicely. Looks awesome in games, movies, text and photoshop. and the viewing angle is enormous.

Then again i have a nasty cheap 15" tft that looks like hell, all grey and dull, too dark for movies, tiny viewing angle ect. So in the end its very much a case of...

Ya get what you pay for

Myself i have 2 17" SyncMaster 172x TFT's on my desk atm.
NO dead pixles, and the view is very sharp.

Through working and using laptops etc, probably tried at least 10 different TFTs. I do agree that some are pushing towards being as good as CRT but mine is a 22" Mitsubishi Diamondtron and these are the best CRT ever made.
