my family has a router that every computer we have in the house goes through but at the moment the wireless isnt working well and it taking ages for ythe wireless to register... and also the cabled computers (mine and my parents computers..) the internet has ben running slow for them, and sometimes not even working...
my brother thinks it is something to do with the firmwear... i suggested maybe a part of the firmwear may have gone corrupt? (would that be possible?)
has anyone got any ideas?
(makes a belkin i think lol)

flashing a rounter with new firmware isnt dificult....
dont try do it from a wireless connection...even tho i did...lol....cos you lose connection half way through...
there will be an upload firmware option in the rounter software when you logon..
although the firmware can fix some issues.... it can also run worse...
as with my netgear router..the 2nd firmware release seems to be the most stable.
There is nothing to change on ya pc... only the key if you decide to change that on the router for wireless connections....
o btw.... if the flash does go wrong...there tends to be recovery programs for routers..there is for a netgear...cant say for a belkin tho..

Alright guys,
So you go to the manufacturers website and download the latest firmware for your model. Then you connect to the router with one of the PC's that uses a cable (very important that part)
Log onto the router, and find the firmware upgrade page (look in the manual or the manufacturers website for instructions) Then upgrade your firmware.
Dr.Strangelove: hopefully this should answer ur question. You dont upgrade the firmware on the PC's, just the router
Maddog: its unlikely that this is the cause of your problems. It could be a number of things
1) someone near you has setup a wireless router using the same channel as yours. http://www.netstumbler.com will help you see the networks in your area.
2) Pc's are infected with a virus which is causeing a lot of network traffic, causeing the router to become slow. Do virus/spyware checks on ur pc.
3) If the router is old it might slowly be dieing, (this happens but is unlikely)
Let us know how you get on
P.S if any of you have Linksys WRT54G Series of router have a look at http://www.thibor.co.uk (hacked firmware that is a lot better than linksys)

Spyware... I seem to remember Maddog having a huge problem with this...
How often do you do a Spyware scan? Speaking of which...
