Post subject: AMD Athlon X2 4200+ Dual Core Overclocking
Post Posted: Sat Jun 03, 2006 11:23 am
Hello.

i have a AMD Athlon X2 4200+ Dual Core at 2.2ghz and i want to over clock it to about 2.4ghz but i dont know how and it seems like the bios has locked the overclocking feature, can i unlock this?
Also would i need any extra cooling if i overclocked it because it only has the fans that came with it.

Regards,
Richard

I wouldnt attempt to overclock it because its a pre-built PC, and all sorts of funny shizzle can happen. I personally have only overclocked PCs made by myself, optherwise it could just go pear shaped.

Para you hound dog you, How would I go about oc'ing my AMD 3800+ Dual Core. Got the Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe Motherboard but am stumped on where to start. Got good aircooling as well by means of an Akasa Evo33 Cooler.

Any suggestions :D

the rest of your PC spec is important (mainly cpu, mobo and ram).

the affinity sets which CPU (CPU0 and CPU1 represent each core of the CPU) the program will bias too, so you can effectly set a program to just use one of the CPUs.

mr chris i have the same motherboard as you, just read the features, you will see in the bios it has an auto oc'ing feature, i havent done it yet but its supposed to have a safegard which stops it from going wrong, have a look :) and look im your manual for your motherboard, it should say more there

I used to go on another forum alot before this, they have a large amount of stickies, faq's and a large user base means questions are awnsered really quickly.

Not trying to make people not ask here, but all the faq's make some good reading :)
