Well as ive all told you about a brazilian times now, my counter strike game is terrible to play. I stumbled across a test a few mins ago and it yielded some alarming (although not entirely unexpected) results.
Note- table below gives indictator of scores (i.e. QoS score =pants) ive had 0.1 packet loss in follow up tests.
I have tried...
disabling windows firewall/internet connection sharing via services without any real effect.
tried turning off QoS.
Using DMZ settings to play cs.
Here's where you come in. I need to fix this so any ideas on how to tweak QoS etc or any apps would be appreciated. I have Cs;s properly configured on router and really on my mates pc without any port forward it outperforms me. To me, it seems its the link from pc to router on outflow thats the issue i.e. sometimes im convinced i hit and there wouldnt be any dmg done to the player (infuriating btw)
This is something im desperate to fix so only relevant answers here.
Thanks in advance.
Dan.
\EDIT- have the same problem is Q4 using com_showasyncstats 1 (proportional loss to cs)

netgear DG834G -latest drivers and stuff.
current settings (using them can sometimes cause slightly more loss although tbh i cant say for certain)

you shouldn't need any port forwarding unless you are hosting a server.
I would backup the router config, factory reset it, run the setup wizard to get back online then see what happens.
You'll have full access outbound, and everything blocked inbound.
If you have problems, try enabling UPnP before you play with the firewall rules.

*looks behind*....me???!!-you'll have to tell me what to do... i did ping the GCHQ server (use domain.201.175) and got a round time of 20ms no packet loss (if thats what you mean)
Tried enabling uPnP with no luck tbh. Also, have factory set it a few times tbh....last time i accidently disable DCHP (oo dear) couldnt connect back on to switch it lol.... reset the router and reinstalled firmware etc with no effect.

Start > run > cmd
ping cs.gamecommunity.co.uk > c:\network.txt
Then
tracert cs.gamecommunity.co.uk >> c:\network.txt
type exit to close the command window
open the c:\network.txt file and copy and paste it in here.
Tar
Also please tell us weather your using wireless or not, and what network adapters your using too
PS, i dont believe that the DG834G has got QOS built in, you might have to tell us the firmware revision of the router too

try changing the channel on the router, you can pick channels about 12 channels, each is on different frequencies, i found that it helped a lot on my router which is the same as yours, just try different ones and c

Pinging cs.gamecommunity.co.uk [use domain.201.175] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from use domain.201.175: bytes=32 time=26ms TTL=115
Reply from use domain.201.175: bytes=32 time=28ms TTL=115
Reply from use domain.201.175: bytes=32 time=27ms TTL=115
Reply from use domain.201.175: bytes=32 time=24ms TTL=115
Ping statistics for use domain.201.175:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 24ms, Maximum = 28ms, Average = 26ms
Not using wireless -direct cable...i tried changing the cable last night and there isnt as much loss but still some of the attributes.
Network adapter im guessing is nforce4 (latest)
-cant disable wireless btw. Will try chaning the channels might help somehow lol.
Firmware is latest version 3.01 or something.
EDIT My connection has always been a bit loose at the back i.e. i need to pull the cable up a bit to get the green light on at the front. Although its been working fine when its put into the right place it might just been dodgy connections at the back (although it would mean all 4 ports tbh)

-or-
1. other PCs are using bandwidth
1a. other users
1b. viruses/spyware.
2. your local exchange is congested resulting in hight contention
3. your pc has spyware/viruses
4. youre just paranoid about your ping and its fine in reality.

1. no other pcs in house, although i do wonder if theres someone taking up bandwidth locally (id poke their eyes out with a fork tbh)
2.possibly. can only get 1 meg bb so it might be an issue with line quality although im told its 'fine'
3. defo no.
4. nah not ping issue. *looks behind and around, uses a metal detector to search for bugs in room, begins to type with shifty eyes @:P* some settings make it pop up and down like DMZ but its loss thats the problem here...
O and sorry arma i thought it was on the cutpaste ....
