Quote: 2.possibly. can only get 1 meg bb so it might be an issue with line quality although im told its 'fine'
its important to remember that BTs definaition of 'fine' in terms of latency is upto 150ms.

hense the quotes
What you on about slaps? What is the program, what do i do to access it/download it?
EDIT found it (winmtr)
Says no loss...tbh im almost conviced its an issue between the router and the pc but im no expert. Sometimes the game performs really well and then its pants again...could this be something to do with upnp advertisement time and time to live (measured in hops) ...didnt really understand that and whenever i run a game, it doesnt show any ports being used.

just got this from out of nowhere
PING use domain.201.175 (use domain.201.175): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from use domain.201.175: icmp_seq=0 ttl=115 time=30.0 ms
64 bytes from use domain.201.175: icmp_seq=2 ttl=115 time=20.0 ms
64 bytes from use domain.201.175: icmp_seq=3 ttl=115 time=20.0 ms
--- use domain.201.175 ping statistics ---
4 packets transmitted, 3 packets received, 25% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 20.0/23.3/30.0 ms
(done from netgear router)
sucks to be me

There's WinMTR kicking around.
Are you wired/wireless to the router?
You could try your PC round your mates and see if works there, or borrow his router

I don't know what to suggest i'm pretty clueless when it comes to internet hops and inner technical stuff but I have the same router in my house I connected wirelessly to it and I have no problem, however my dad's pc connects via ethranet cable and it does seem to disconnect quite a lot on the internet????
so maybe a router problem i've had loads of problems with it setting it up and stuff but for now (touch wood) it's doing ok for me
maybe something to do with the cable not being in 100% has something to do with it???
Hope you get it sorted

There may be other stuff loose if all the ports are jiggling
