Did I read of using a SATA-IDE converter...installing the operating system via the IDE slot, then changing it back to a SATA slot.
Keeping the adaptor for future use.....

Its written on a label on the outside of the machine, and also can be found in the bios.

If you go into the bios and look at the "drive" settings (might be called something different) it will prob says RAID or AHCI.

If it does then hit on it and change it to IDE if you can

If you can do this then tyr installing xp again and youll be ok.

dont woryr it wont affect performance to much, infact hardly any. AHCI just enabled NCQ (native command queueing) which is good for media centre as it allows stuff to be queued better (funny that)

Post a picture of your bios screen if you get stuck and I'll help you out.
