hi guys,
im looking for a new router, but i want a GOOD one, wireless N would be great for a bit of future proofing.
it must be able to handle some serious traffic with online gaming, downloading, server maintance etc.
whatcha guys think.
money isnt really an issue i just want something that will work and work well.
cheers
shrek

Wireless and serious traffic dont mix (unless you have a wussy definition of serious )

i will be wired, (although N is now faster than 100Mb/s lan and theres no way i can afford a gigalan switch, atm anyway)
the rest of the house will need wireless
its not the wireless side that i need to handle the traffic, its the modem, my old belkin would cut out if the number of packets got too high, and the newer netgear doesnt like the high number of connections you get with a torrent.
i was looking at the same one corned_beef
cheers for your input

this is the next version up from my (2600G) recommened by generalpublic.
its a great router with some QoS and throttling capabilities, also that one is ADSL2+ compatible so it will last you a while.
i bought mine from lolz0r://www.dsl-warehouse.co.uk/
PS. 2800G is listed as (£148.05 inc VAT), with the 2800VG the same price( the VG has VOIP aswell)

We have a couple running site-to-site VPNs over 16Mb Bulldog ADSL lines - never had a problem with them TBH.

seems that its limiting to 8Meg,
ive seen posts on other forums about it, say that draytek know about it an are/where working on a fireware fix.
whats firmware version are you using? as these post ive read my not apply if they have released the fix.

mate i wouldnt get N just yet
as far as im aware its still not been made into a standard, so N from one manufacturer could be different from another. E.g this will cause problems when you buy wireless cards.
Just hold on a bit untill its a standard

version 1.0 has been decided on as of March 2006. version 1.1 will be 1.0 with a few amendments and that will be confirmed Q2 07.
version 1.1 will be the first real standard, as version 1.0 is more of a public beta.
so based on that, you are right, and i dont have any N cards yet.
thanks for the help general
