Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940)

Image
The Pro range features a low speed 92 mm fan reducing the noise level to a minimum. The patented fan holder is able to practically eliminate the typical buzzing sound of 92 mm fans. 6 Heat Pipes (three used double sided) are able to transfer heat up to 200 Watt. The heat exchanger is built of 42 fins and consists of a surface area of over 4700 cm2 and allows for resistance free energy transfer to air. Air is drawn in from the side of the fan to cool the components around the CPU. Some air is blown out towards the voltage converters on the mainboard with the bent fins at the bottom.

- Heat Sink: 104 x 58 x 126.5 mm
- Fan: 107 x 43.5 x 96 mm
- Overall Dimensions: 107 x 96.5 x 126.5 mm
- Rated Fan Speed: 2200 RPM
- Power Consumption: 0.16 Amp.
- Air Flow: 40 CFM / 68 m3/h
- Weight: 528 g
- Noise Level: 0.8 Sone
- Thermal Resistance: 0.18°C/Watt

£17.57

Yay or nay?

Yes mate! Dont waste a second thinking about it!
I bought it by the beginning of the summer. Its real sexy, and works just great. Haven't had a single crash since i installed it!

it cools the cpu by about 18*C lower than the stock hsf

for the money, you can't go wrong 8)

BTW, theyre a right pain to put on the motherboard (I've got one too :P).

I managed to get mine on without taking out my motherboard, but i still took out my PSU. Just as a warning before you try, just take your motherboard out of the case :)

I suppose you will anyway, your getting a new case :)

Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer ATI 5 (Rev 2) (X850 Series)
Image

The Arctic Cooling ATI Silencer 5 is ideal for ATI Radeon ATI X800 (R430) (XL), ATI X850 (R480) PRO, XT, XT PE series based graphic cards. It offers substantially better cooling performance over the ATI reference cooler. With the Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer makes use of DHE (Direct Heat Exhaust) system. This carries the warm exhaust air directly from inside the case, thus the inside case temperatures are lower. By the large aluminum radiator box with copper base plate it needs only a slowly turning exhaust fan, in order to keep things cool. Thus operating at a very low noise level!

Or would something like this be better?

Zalman VF700-Cu Quiet Copper VGA Cooler

Image
The Zalman VF700-Cu supports the very latest graphics cards up to Nvidia 7800 GTX and Radeon X1800. The fan installed in the heatsink cools not only the VGA chipset and VGA RAM, but all other VGA components as well. Silent Mode and Normal Mode to accommodate the user's environment and preference.

- Does not generate noise or vibration in Silent Mode.
- Dimensions 91 (L) x 126.4 (W) x 30 (H) mm
- Weight 270g
- Base Material: Pure Copper
- Fan Speed 1350 - 2650 RPM
- Noise Level 18.5 - 28.5 dB(A)
- Bearing Type: 2-Ball

I've got the fatility version of the Zalman on a fan controller so I can adjust the noise level on the fly. It ranges between bareable and loud.
Does keep it cooler than Glas' nadgers dipped in icey cider tho.

(oh, didnt have space on my card to fit the Ram H/sinks either)

Arctic Cooling ATI 5 (Rev.2) for X850 Series

The Arctic Cooling ATI Silencer 5 (Rev.2) is designed for ATI Radeon X800/X850 PCI-E series graphic cards. It offers substantially better cooling performance over the ATI reference cooler. The DHES (Direct Heat Exhaust System) draws cool air from inside the case and exhausts warm air outwards. This prevents the fan from recycling warm air to cool the GPU, which increases cooling performance. Further the DHES lowers the air temperature inside the case, because the heat of the GPU will be carried out directly. A large fan and optimized fanblades offer extremely low noise levels!

Application
- AGP & PCIe: ATI X800 and ATI X850 (all versions, except AIW)

Price: £12.75 (£14.98 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Ordered.

Is there anything else I need now?

Do I need to get that silver thermal paste for these things?

And someone said something about the ram coolers for the gfx card, do I need to buy those? :?

it should come with arctic silver (i would think) but there will be something there for it.

as for the ram coolers, the cooler your getting won't support them, only the VF700 and alike do (flower coolers)

so you are all sorted

Moved in here. If you have the spare cash maybe go for the paste, but like 8ball said you should get some with it and it'll be reasonable as it's Arctic anyway I'm guessing......
Still think you should get the Sharkoons -

so you can roadtest them before i replace my Akasa Ambers

Arctic cooling and arctic silver are two different companys.

The GPU and PCU fans will come with paste. It works well, but if you just want the best temperatures then arctic silver 5 is the stuff to get. It will probably drop the temps by about 1º over the paste supplied. Plus the CPU fan comes with the paste pre applied, and I reckon its too much paste, there only needs to be a very thin layer.

Also, if your VGA card is made by a unpopular card manufacturer, then the cooler might not fit. My chaintech 6600GT had the ramsinks in the way of the plastic fan casing, so I filed them down so it would fit on. Its still fine, as basically you could run them without the heatsinks anyway.

But if your card is a popular card, you wont have any issues.

Yea, got the CPU cooler today, has the pre-applied powder. How do I get that off?

How much Arctic 5 do I need? :|

Very thin smear - edge to edge, but you dont really want it to squeege over the edges.
Buy a lil bockle of cleaner while your there to clean the old stuff off.
Or maybe use your girls nail varnish remover (or your own....)
but dont quote that, i've already got the arctic manufacturers wrong
