Ive had hell with komplett
If you do go with them, ask if you can send it direct to Tilberg instead of a depot-in-england-that-takes-two-months-to-ship-a-shoebox-sized-parcel-for-testing.

i had a look on komplett'site it has a list of manufacturers you can return it with..

Abit isn't one of them, which i think means it will go to Komplett, dam it..
tomorrow i am going to try and get hold of a my brother in laws copy of sp2 already installed, see if that resolves cpu usage issue..

also someone mentioned on another forum about my hdd (doing some kind of diagnostic test) not sure if there is one.

worth looking into that..

otherwise definitely the RMA..

guys i just tried disabling firewire in bios..

and cpu usage is back to normal..

now.. does that suggest a faulty mobo?

also under Device manager, where Other devices is..
it reads

PCI bridge device
PCI device
SMBus Controller
universal serial bus controller (USB controller)

these are yellow question marks and exclamation marks, and it says not installed, maybe if i install nvidia forceware/ network manager it will show up normal... but last time i did that (whilst cpu usage was high), when windows tried to load it blue screened) couple of mins ago

also guys alot of the devices i reported before as showing up yellow are missing...probly because i disabled firewire in bios

under network adapters it reads only 1 thing which is fine
Nvidia Network Bus Enumerator

Network Adapter
Nvidia nforce networking controller

advice?

Im sure there were a lot more things in these places before i disabled that in bios, so what does all this mean?

Re-install your drivers on the CD that came with your motherboard.

Also tell me about the XP CD, is it one of them all in jobbies with SP included (reason why I ask is that I had one of those which had conflicting drivers with my new mobo, only way I could straighten it out was to install XP SP-0, install mobo drivers, then manually patch to SP2).

rite i have just updated to sp2, and installed updates etc

all the yellow things in device manager are gone ( i went in manually and right clicked install and it worked, so im guessing sp2 has drivers for this stuff)

(last thing to go was PCI device)

I will soon reinstall the mobo drivers that came with cd and let you know what happens - hopefully no problems

then i might consider re-enabling firewire in bios and see what happens..
maybe without updated windows it doesnt have firewire stuff ..

btw if you have an nforce mobo, DO NOT install the IDE drivers - they can really fook things up

rite so i didnt install board drivers yet
i just enabled 1394 on board controller again (i think thats firewire)
this time windows doesnt load after 10-15 mins.. so i pushed power restart button and changed it back

also on the load up screen, I get a really long list of devices that are loaded as opposed to when 1394 on board controller is disabled in bios

does this mean my firewire on my mob is faulty then?

i dont fancy trying to install all the drivers, as bilbo said, and i have read on abit sites that they cause ALOT of problems

well as far as i'm concerned the firewire on the mobo is knackad..

RMA it is then

question now is..

wait a few weeks and play css because i will be going to university shortly and will be busy for a month?

or.... RMA it ASAP?

i'm also considering upgrading my PSU to a new tagan 550 watt psu

guys how much do you think an antec smart power 2 450 watt psu is (only 4 weeks old..assuming it doesn't have a defect?)

is £35-40 about right?

just asked it to be RMA'd via Komplett.. will have to wait for authorisation, it is possible i believe to pay £12 for a cross shipment, not sure how but i think i'll just wait but i'd probly be without a mobo for a while..so then i might pay for it..

not sure how actually though to go about requesting a cross shipment, should probly have put it in the part where it says describe the fault.
