Hi,
Err dont know if this is the right place to post,so SORRY if its not.
What i want to know is if it is possible to hook a tape deck up to my pc so i can use windows recorder to obviously record the tape,You see i used to have decks and make mix tapes and i stumbled across a tape i had made a few years ago that brought back excellent memorys.
SO is it possible to do this or not.
Any help will be greatly appreciated,THANKS.
All the best
Dan

Just involved your input /mic sockets to yr soundcard
Perhaps one of our other colleagues can elaborate ?

Get a cable that has headphone jacks at both ends. One goes in the mic hole on your soundcard (you can see it because its pink and sometimes has a little microphone symbol). Then put the other in the headphone thing on the tape player. Make sure your microphone isnt muted in windows, or it has mic boost or anything like that on. (check teh sound settings on bottom right of screen ->)
You could use sound recorder, but if you want to cut stuff up, make sure its the right levels etc, use audacity: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

I did this to some of my old Kevin Bloody Wilson tapes recently, hissy fuzz and all. cant be bothered to find a program then actually remove it and I kind a like the extreme lo-fi sound of it.
Wanted to do it to some of my old c-64 game tapesas well just for the hell of it

Audacitys got a noise removal tool, you just select a bit of the sound thats pure noise and it will filter it out
Although it does have its side effects, such as sometimes it effects very "trashy" cymbals or distorted guitars.

Err,
Mainly like house music etc....Trance,funky house, scouse house, hard house,Old skool all sorts really,i used to love it,But when i lost my job i had to sell my decks and i tried to keep onto me records for as long as possible but in the end i had to 400vinyl for flippin £100.
Nowadays i listen to the doors the jam the kinks the animals and all kinds of 60's 70's 80's etc...
But i used to really love mixing it was a good laugh and i used to spend hours doing it.
What kind of music did you mix mez?
By the way love the man on the decks, lol.
All the best
Dan
