How do these compare in electric usage terms, does one use more than another for a comparable size screen?
Just asking because someone said their electric bill had gone substantially when they got a 42" Plasma..
Anyone know any more about SED?

Plasmas have a short life expectancy (5 years on average), suffer from burn-in quickly and eat leccy in comparison to LCD. They use gas plasma and require lots of juice to produce the picture. A decent CRT will be cheapest and give you the best picture unless you're planning on investing in HD anytime soon  There are also rear projection screens which are essentially a projection enclosure for a LCD projector. My Plasma has a far better picture than my CRT TV could ever produce and im not running HD as yet !
My plasma has a higher resolution and runs progressive scan yada yada yada !
I have also had my plasma for nearly three years with no sign of burn in !
When you say life expectancy or MTBF- plamsa's are measured in thousands of hours continuous use. _________________

if you put out some good cash lcd gives a much brigther and more on the spot picture then plasma
plus channel logos burning into your screen ftl

most of the burn and life expectancy issues have pretty much been sorted now, the original plasma's wernt that good.
but the price is still so prohibitive. i have a 100" plus hd projector and while it is stunning, the brightness of a plasma is a bit better, its not worth the excessive money.(close the curtains)
my projector is about 1500stg
the 100" plasma i'm sure will be way,way above that(still want one though)
I believe that the lcd tv's use a fair bit less leccy

100 foot? blimey...
you know what you need...modular screens...so you can just expand your old screen when you get bored of it....
