With linux...
Got it (my network) working in Ubuntu, but got Kubuntu in the mail a couple of days ago, and as it was 6.06 compared to 5.10 so I decided to do a clean install.
Now I cant seem to get the network up again, so I;ve taken some screenshots so you guys could possibly tell me what I'm doing wrong.
I've got onboard lan with two ethernet ports, shows up as eth0 and eth1 in Kubuntu. Now I know its eth0 as I got it working in Ubuntu. Even so, I've switched everything around and it doesnt work if I use eth1 either.
So, heres some windows and linux screenies, anyone recognise something wrong?

it may be a stupid question, but why have you got the same IP address bound to both cards, even if one's disabled?

Because I tried it on the other "card" just to make sure that linux wasnt interpreting the primary as the secondary card, and vice versa.

Hehe, tbh I liked Ubuntu, but I wanted the XGL thing: http://forum.gamecommunity.co.uk:8080/v ... hp?t=32805
Although now I realise you can get it from Ubuntu too... Awell, KDE is more similar to windows
Anyway, back on topic --->

try setting each card to a different IP address, still on 192.168.1, then looking in the arp cache after trying a ping
does it work in Windows?

Yes. Im using the connection through windows right now. Even if I try one and set the others ip address at 192.168.1.50 or just leave the box blank, it doesnt work.
And er, whats the arp cache *runs away*

Is your firewall completely locked down to transmit/receive no traffic.
When I had a go on suse a while back the firewall was set by default to the highest level, I think i chose this during setup and I couldnt do anything until I fiddled with it.

192.168.1.1 is my router. I just copied what I had from windows to Kubuntu.
Dont have the time now but ill do that ifconfig and route thing when I get back home. Should I do that in Kubuntu or Windows?
