Explain the reason for why a hardware product is affected by a software (DX10) product, i dont see why a DX9 card wont run DX10 the same for at least the first 6-8 months after release and also how many games will fully support DX10 as soon as it comes out?

dx10 will be bringing new shader models (4.0?) with it.. which current cards do not support.. as well as a lot more shiny stuff... was gutted when i read up on this shortly after getting my x1800xt last crimble...

]The new operating system will be a major gaming platform release because it includes DirectX 10, an upgraded and rebuilt collection of APIs that, according to Microsoft, will offer six to eight times the graphics performance of DirectX 9.0.
