I just ran a steam compatibility test

only thing it failed on was where it said

Quote:
Background Processes: Failed
The following background processes were found on your system. Please try exiting or uninstalling them, and see if that resolves your issue
Process: Apache.exe
Apache WebServer is installed on this computer, use while playing a game can cause lag
Severity: Low
Process: nSvcIp.exe
Nvidia Network Access Manager Firewall is running. Make sure all required ports are open, and all instances of Steam.exe, hl.exe, and hl2.exe are allowed access to the internet. This also may cause lag or pauses during gameplay.
Severity: Very High
Process: nSvcIp.exe
Nvidia Network Access Manager Firewall is running on this system - may cause lag or pauses
Severity: Low

just want to know if theres a way of solving this?
it involves port fowarding.. if so, how?

Thanks :D

Didn't get any errors on it, are you behind a router?

You might be able to forward some ports from there.

yer but the problem detected was to do with the networking firewall manager on my nvidia nforce motherboard (abit kn9-sli)

theres a little networking manager built in, i'm having a gander, but i don't really know what to do.

Hmmmm im not really an expert in networking.

Is it just your firewall that may be blocking the ports from the motherboard?

Maybe the ports don't need to be opened? Just unblocked?

lol that may be utter bull....so don't take my word for it.

Get slappy on the case he'll know what to do.

im not experiencing problems, i was just reading the forums of steam, dark messiah to see how people are reacting to the release, lots of issues it seems.

the link to that test was there, and i was just pre-emptively wondering how to resolve what could be a potential issue.

ending the process in task manager seems to resolve it as far as steam is concerned..but is there an alternative way? is there any harm in doing what i just did, like does this firewall really do much?

Well have you got another firewall?

Because if you do im sure the inbuilt one is not really needed but if you can find a way to fix it while being on that would be a safer idea.

I never installed the nvidia firewall because it used apache to run. Definately will add to a piece of lag.
