my brother has locked my dad out of his laptop, .. lol
The password is bulgaria, however it would only ever logon using a different keyboard (USB Logitech)... ie the laptop keyboard would not logon when typing "bulgaria". He wanted to fix the problem so he logged on using the USB, then went to change passwords. My brother typed bulgaria in OLD PASSWORD using the USB, then using the laptop keyboard he typed in "bulgaria" TWICE as required.
His theory was that the password was originally entered using the USB keyboard and that it was some daft US layout by default so that it was actually spitting out something other than "bulgaria" underneath those *****.
Unfortunately his theory sucks. I cannot logon using "bulgaria" with either the laptop or the USB keyboard now! The same applies when trying to logon to the laptop from another PC on the network.
He can get on to the laptop under a different domain but from here he cannot access /Documents and Settings/"broken user name" folder
any help appreciated .
he is using XP sp2
thanks

tried all the programs and they didn't recognise my laptop's partitions, quite possibly because laptops have 2.5" HD's and may use SCSI.
Turns out the problem was that on my laptop keyboard there are 5 letters with numbers on in the corner. Turns out that those numbers replace those (seemingly arbitrary) keys when in password mode (how convenient that it only ever does this second function when you can't see the results!!!!).
God damn Mr Fujitsu!!!!
