my computer has started freezing (and in alot of cases also blanking out screen for 2 seconds) and then loads up again. it also crashs media player when trying to load a DVD or load music.
there are 2 slots on my card for power (card got put in about 10 mins ago) but have only plugged one in just incase it did overload... would this be a power problem or what?

well as you just put it in...
and presumably...... you were ok before...
its
a/power.....
b/drivers.....
does it do it if you come up in safe mode?
and how often is it freezing?
what power supply is it you have in? and normally....the card should only need one power connector...

On displaying a video, shouldn't be - the performance of a computer should be fine, unless you've got your screen res to some massive amount, so it's doing plenty of processing on the GFX card, which requires more power than it's currently got - which could cause it to 'freeze' up. My Radeon used to do that, needing VPU recover to kick in... or me to reboot.
The important thing about those PSU's is the power output on the 12v rail, and not the overall power output (which is actually usually it's max unsustainable power output - it's peak is 600W, but may normally be 480W).
I actually mis-read your original post, does the manual not show where to plug the card into the power supply? Does it require 2 * 12v or something? I'd read the manual carefully and see whether only one or both of those requires plugging in. What card is it by the way?

What card is it by the way? it says Quote: connect the female connector of the harddisk adapter cable to the power connector on the back of the graphics card. then attach the male connector on the cable to a matching connector from your computers power supply. gainward bliss 6800gs, 7800 (one i have) and 7900 series display adapters will not operate without the additional power source
so does it need 2 or...?

I've no idea, what's the female hDD connector? I only know of the IDE connector slot, or the SATA - dependant upon your HDD, and it also takes a bog standard power supply socket as well.
Why's it connected to the HDD i dunno, as it's addressing comes from the system bus itself and processor doesn't it?
Argh, dunno mate - sorry. It's talking taiwanese to me.

dont make much sence to me either lol
the plug (for power) was a box with 4 pins in it, i have the same next to my cpu. it is my power to my mobo... (i believe), it has 2 sets of wires with 2 different plugs on the end (same type of connect though) i have 2 plugs that can go into it. and i could do it but in fear of blowing up my pc
