Anyone know why Bit Torrents take up SOOO much bandwidth for such little download speeds they produce?
-Getting an average of 8kb/s or so and my thing has been downloading for a few hours, this is acceptable, problem is that it KILLS my internet!
It takes around 20 seconds for google.co.uk to load, now that is just silly..Does anyone know a way to stop this? Or do bit torrents always take over 90% of connection speed, even if only using 5%.

its because you're upload is uncapped - right click on it bottom right and set it to about 15
the it will be whizzy

nope, utorrent is fine use it myself
for legal downloads of course, OOo ftw.
But yeah, drop the upload bandwidth untill you can browse nicely again...If you drop it too low it will limit your download cap, but it'll tell you in the status bar...

If you set it to unlimited, it seems to hog all of the upstream bandwidth, even if you're not actually using it...and when you're browsing you need upstream bandwidth to receive data (ie confirm you received it, send requests etc etc)

I used Mininova and I'm downloading a game, not going to say anymore as It's probably against some form of forum rules .
