You can get away without an anti static wristband as long as you keep incontact with the metal case.
Apart from that be gentle, take your time and it should all be groovy.

its still always best to have an earth point....

I thought the metal case in contact with the ground and you would act as an earth.

You need to keep the power cord plugged in but turned off. It will earth through ground and do away with those bady static charges, just keep touching the case

Okay, did all the installing... but, somethings gone a bit wrong somewhere, and no It wasn't the static lol.

Basically, when I turn on the PSU at the back, the processor fan, and my two other fans all start spinning. All the fans except the one in the PSU.

But I press the power on button, at the front of the case, and nothing happens. :|

Okay I kinda fixed that, but now it just won't turn on.

When the PSU is on, non non of the fans move, but the boards green light comes on indicating it.s powered.

Only probelm now when I press the stanby button, nothing happens.

I've just played call of Duty 2, I've gone from everyhing looking at Direct x 7 mode, to Direct x 9 mode with all the shiney turned up to max... wow.

Also just played Oblivion, which barely worked on the lowest settings before... now it just looks beautiful, and no choppyness to ruin it.

Just wow really. :D

Bloody hell, reinstalling windows so that it reformats my hard drive took me longer to install everything.

I'm just installing all the drivers, and such at the moment.

But I did have a bit of trouble with sometimes the pc starting up and the monitor not switching on. Then after about two soft resets and than turning power off at the mains, I'd turn the computer back on and it would come up on the screen (Before windows loads) Something about 'Overclocking failed' and give me the options, setup (Which takes me to bios settings) and Load default settings'. So I just load the default.

But I'll see if it keeps on doing that with all this updating I've been doing.

Oh and, it's not exactly top of the range now, I've just gone from a:

AMD Athlon XP 300+ 2.2 GHz
6600GT 256mb (AGP)
Old Asus mobo

To a:

AMD Athlon 64 3800 2.4 GHz
7600GT 256mb PCI-E
New Asus Mobo

But now I can easily add newer things, and the move to PCI-E is a relief, especially compared to the the price difference of AGP and PCI-E cards that are practically the same.

Making the same upgrade too. XP3000+ to an X2 XP3800+

AGP to PCI-E

9800 Pro to X1950Pro

Unfortunatley 2Gb RAM to 1GB RAM.

But should get some preformance boost ;)

Oh it's worth it  :D

Still got that problem though, sometimes I go to switch on the computer and the computer itself seems to load up, but the monitor doesn't come on, it just stays on stanby.

I've got an Asus A8V-VM motherboard, in case someone else has had this problem?

Yeah, I think so, I've tried connecting the monitor lead to the motherboard when it's in this state but no luck.
