for some daft reason, when i load the game, processor shoots straight up to 100% and stays there...(everything installed and patched)..
doesnt do this with say CSS or other games i know of..
this is causing my game to crash a lot...although it plays smooth
thing is remember this SAME exact problem occuring before in the past on a diff pc !!
im running the game from the HDD (not cd's)
my specs
single athlon 3800 2.4ghz
nvidia 7900gt
2gb ram - using extra page memory aswell
lots of HDD space..
kn9 sli mobo
Windows XP - HOME ED
... so strange
anyone else come across this problem or know how to solve it?

the useage is 98% on BF1942 itself in task manager, the remainder goes to windows..
btw this is a fresh install of BF files with no prior testing as going along, but im sure it would have same results if i reinstalled.

could it be this that is giving you the problem and not the game itself?
also,if its a fresh install, try and delete you temp files
i too used to have a problem with a fresh install and then getting ktd and found once i had deleted all temp files, it seemed to have corrected itself (dunno why though )

(i used alcohol120 to mount images and install bf1942.. used my own cd-key .. since i have broken 4 cd's..with 3 cd-keys for each one i own)
i installed the no-cd crack after all installations
and yes i unmounted the virtual drive after i finished with alcohol
gonna try deleting temp files.. i assume you meant in disk cleanup?

it does seem rather odd that bf'42 would cause the cpu to go nuts, as it were, i would probably point the finger at the other things (no cd crack?) is there any way of running these things without the game just to see how much juice they're sucking?
disc cleanup yes mate

disk cleanup didnt work
so uninstalled
reinstall bf1942 .it wouldnt let me load it for not havin correct cd ver.. so was forced to add back the no-cd crack, can't test it (without running from hdd) tried having it mounted in alcohol...and burning a cd didnt work
cpu still at 100%

With my core 2 duo 6600 I get 50 % so that's probably 100 % on single core. I don't think it's bad to have 100 % usage but that it crashes is.
Anyways you might try another no-cd crack then the one you use now, to eliminate this. I run BF1942 from HD as well and have always done that (no problems).
What is the temperature of your CPU at 100%? (during playing and after crashing). Does the game crash at a random time after starting or is it an exact time? After loading maps or during? Have you changed any CPU core voltage settings?
BTW...why do I keep getting this

as long as i posted less than a specific number of letters it wouldn't be a problem so i made an image of what i was going to say and added it like that

well my cpu dropped by about 15 degrees C when i rebuilt the computer after a motherboard replacement
i used the cpu thermal paste arctic silver.. rather than the stuff they give u..before i rebuilt the pc... it was about 35degrees c
big drop!
but also the weather changed at that time from hot to cold..so that probably accounts for about 5deg c

how do you monitor temps, other than MBM (which doesn't have my mobo and I cba to manually configure it)
