Apparently, they've not pulled there fingers out and put their hands up for 4 months now. They've been blaming it on Valve, lol

i think the problem is that the 8800 is a dx10 card and nothing supports dx10 yet. if you change your dx level ingame it should help

Nope. And whats the point? We should be able to run CSS in DX9 mode like all other cards. Thats the problem tbh. Running in any lower version of DX makes the game stupidly unreliable.

add this to your launch options:
-dxlevel 81
The game will be less visually appealing but i believe this is a fix for the fog.
If after this you are getting shiny models, cars, your hands etc. enter mat_specular "0" into the console. GL

I have done that already, crashed like crazy when I started playing. And yeah, it looks all choppy. I bought a graphics card to perform well at the games I buy, not look crappy in aspects that it should look beautiful.
On a lighter note... Oblivion looks sooooooooooo beautiful
It's just too bad my monitor doesn't go higher than 1024 x 768 :(:(
*Buys new monitor. YAY!! * <- Near future. Very near future. :D
EDIT: Also like other statements... "Why buy a top of the range card to have it work like a piece of poopie on something as pathetic as fog? "

Well, your in a bit of pickle, because Valve are blaming it on nVidia and nVidia are blaming it on valve. Source will be DX10 around Q3 2007, when Episode 2 is released. Just be grateful you can play Crysis when it comes out
