Okay then, new comp.....more problems.
I've got graphics working now.
So PC starts up, up pops the mobo graphic screen...good
Then up pops a black screen with writing (Can't get exact writing but I think it mentions HDD) and press any key to continue...
Press a key, the screen just goes blank.....if you don't press a key it goes blank after 3 seconds.
Tried fiddling about and must have rebootd over 20 times....I have to switch f off via power button, keyboard etc doesn't work.
Could really do with some help in trying to solve the problem....this new computer is really driving me insane.

Now then if I remove the HDDs.....then the writing comes up with something about the DVD-RW then.....remove it also and it just comes up with press any key to continue.  _________________  [SNIGG] Sniggerdly | Ask me about how awesome I am at EvE |

I trust that you have told the bios that everything is there? All your stuff is connected properly (sounds stupid, I forgot my power cables and it just buzzed at me...)
Got the keyboard in the right port I presume (I'm gona take a guess and say your not that stupid)
To get into BIOS you usually press/tap the DEL key at the black screen with the writing about your HDD and CPU etc...
If your not sure about the BIOS, look in your manual, but most of your problems could be in the Standard Settings menu, possibly the Advanced Settings.
Take out one of the extra HDDs and try taking one of the RAM chips out if that does work. Make sure you try both RAM chips seperately. (RAM can cause all sorts of very wierd problems. I can't count the amount of different events I had happen with crappy RAM)

make sure EVERYTHING is inserted properly.
everything has their power cables fully pushed in.
etc.
then try booting up without your graphics card. (you'll need to remove it completly and then switch to onboard graphics.
If you have spare parts from an old PC swap them into the machine, go through everything systematically till you find out what the problem is.
That's the hard way to do it.....when you have absolutly no idea whats wrong. (it's what you'll pay 60 quid for at PC world  )
The easy way is to find someone who knows what the problem is _________________

Also this comp had APG slots, not PCI slots for graphics etc....
The building of my new computer is so diffrent to the build of this old one.
And I'd gladly take it to PC world and pay £60 to get it fixed as long as it worked.....if it wasn't 120 miles away.
Sick of it already, the comp just couldn't get built without a string of hiccups to stop me along the way.....after I get this sorted then the network wont work.....then a component will break and I'll go through another stage of problems.... _________________ [SNIGG] Sniggerdly | Ask me about how awesome I am at EvE |

ASUS, gah!! Thats why I hate those damned motherboards! XD
I've had problems with those before, similar to this one, but I was able to access the bios (which is where the problem was) but I don't remember what I did. Try ASUS's Web Support, I used their forum, see if they have had previous problems with those boards similar to yours. It might just be a mobo problem. Btw, do you have a USB keyboard or PS2, if you have both (even if it's a PS/2 adapter or visa versa) try it. o.0
EDIT: Some parts will work from your old compy, just not everything.

Yup done..
Sata ports...well erm the ports... (Not a clue....last comp I built didn;t have Satas, a lot fo new stuff in it )

They usually look like that, sometimes they don't have a border all the way round them, but I believe that ASUS boards do. They are usually labeled too. I don't think it matter which port you use, but on your board use a red one, those are bootable drives or something along those lines, was reading the FAQs on ASUS.  _________________

To late tonight to go crawling under the desk, but as far as I know, (same board), mine are set up as both HD's in SATA ports 1 and 2, and the dvd on sata port 3. I'll check tommorow. (page 2-3 of your m/board manual).
My pc also when first built when you booted it went to the post screen, (what I am guessing that the screen with black writing is then acted like yours did/
My guess is that becuase it cant find any OS on the drives its is pointing you to the DVD rom, I know it sounds daft but, reconnect your master hard drive, change your BIOS to make the DVD your first boot device, and shove your OS install disc in, see what happens then.

Problem is he can't get into the bios... 
It is tough, I been there many a time but hang in there.
I don't get why its getting to the hard drive part of booting, if it can't find an OS or the hard drive isn't formatted thats when you will get an error, thats normally past the time you when you can get into the bios though. Del is what you press to get into the bios on Ami Bios? Tried another keyboard, or that keyboard on another computer. Is it PS2 or USB?
Are you sure all the leads for reset switch, speaker etc are in right? You should get beeps if its a severe problem. _________________
